I don’t “know” much about graffiti, but am getting ready to do some reading on the subject. Interesting to me that artists work for free, with bold, bright patterns– risking, in fact, incarceration. Symbols, names, tags– maybe paintings should be bright and colorful and active. And maybe paintings should be given away, not sold. In some ways, a graffiti artist is a role model– not because they “deface” property, but because they share their art and ask for little or nothing in return.
